Classroom Mangement

Effective classroom management is essential for creating a positive, organized, and engaging learning environment where all students feel safe, respected, and motivated to succeed. My approach to classroom management is rooted in consistency and clear expectations.

1. Clear Expectations and Rules

At the start of the year, I will work with students to establish classroom rules and expectations.

  • These rules are simple and will be consistently reinforced, such as:

    • Be respectful to classmates.

    • Listen to the teacher and classmates when speaking.

    • Be ready to learn.

    • Stay in your seat, and raise your hand.

2. Routines andProcedures

Consistent routines create positive behavior and reduce downtime. Examples include:

  • Morning routine: come in, unpack, and get supplies out for the day to set the tone for the day.

  • Organized transitions between activities. Ex. Blue chairs come to the carpet, then red chairs.

  • Clear systems for turning in work or accessing supplies. Ex. Cubbies, back table, blue bin

3. Positive Reinforcement

I will use praise, rewards, and recognition to encourage positive behaviors instead of recognizing negative ones.

  • Examples: Wow! I love the way student A is working so nicely. As well as the classroom points system and top-dog rewards.

4. Building Relationships

Strong relationships with students are essential for good management.

  • I prioritize getting to know each student and showing genuine interest in their lives. By asking them how they are doing or what they did over the weekend.

  • Regular communication with families strengthens the home-school connection. Share good news and pictures with families. Use district communication apps like SeeSaw or ClassDojo.
